Following the record-breaking rainfall that hit Gwangju, many citizens were left dealing with the aftermath of flooding. Amid these difficult times, the Shincheonji Volunteer Group Gwangju Branch stepped up with heartfelt dedication.
On July 30th, over 60 volunteers gathered at the flood-damaged Buk-gu Park Golf Course in Yeonjae-dong, Gwangju. This facility, completely submerged due to the overflow of the Yeongsan River, had suffered serious damage to its turf and infrastructure.
Despite extreme heat exceeding 35°C, the volunteers removed gravel from the grass, repositioned dislocated mats, and cleared debris. Their efforts went beyond cleaning—they were restoring a beloved community space often used by senior citizens for leisure and health.
This activity reflects more than just labor; it shows genuine concern for the community and a desire to help residents return to their normal lives.
The Shincheonji Volunteer Group Gwangju Branch remains committed to supporting the region through such acts of service.
In the face of hardship, someone quietly chooses to stand by their neighbors.
Their name is Shincheonji Volunteer Group.
